Vale - Henry Gordon Rowe
Henry "Harry" Gordon Rowe.
2/2/1925 - 1/4/2014
The President Mr Ken Sharp, The Management Committee, Players and Supporters of the Richmond Cricket Club wish to pass on their sincere condolences to the family of our highly respected former player Harry Rowe who passed away at the age of 89.
In the Summer of 1941-42, a sixteen year old athletic young man named Harry Rowe was picked to play cricket for the first eleven of the Richmond Cricket Club, and so commenced career at the club that lasted until the completion of the 1955 - 56 season.
Harry was a highly regarded and talented member, who played 81 times for the First Eleven, he won two bowling awards for the Second Eleven, and was a member of that team's Premiership side of 1946-47.
There was a period in the middle of his career at Richmond where he played little First Eleven Cricket but that was understandable when you consider that he was also trying to establish himself as a First Eighteen player for the Melbourne Football Club. He played Senior football for the Demons in 1945 and 1946 and also Umpired 16 senior football games in the VFL from 1951 to 1955.
Harry achievements are recorded in the club's archives, and he will be remembered.
